Killers Magazine Advert Analysis

The first thing that draws the eye of the audience is the colour, the use of purple is bright and attractive but that isn’t its only purpose. The colour purple reinforces the initiative it’s trying to put across. This magazine advert suggests ‘royalty’, the use of purple and the location emphasize this idea, it is set in the ‘Royal’ Albert Hall and the location is also in purple. The colours are quite consistent expect for the surrounding yellow and black which could represent the outdoor as some of these colours shape to look like animals – this could appeal to a wider audience. Furthermore the font it is in is dotted signifying lights and ‘stardom’ further strengthening the idea of ‘royalty’, the band name is large and shining with the lights furthering this design and the background is surrounded by something similar to stars shining. Beneath the band name is the sentence which is used to attract more of an audience, ‘Greatest Hits’ tells the fans that they will be playing popular music and even though some audiences may not be aware of these songs the advert is directed to the entire readers that this show is going to be high-quality whether or not you’re a fan or not. For those who are not familiar with the music they play are given cues to what will be played , the magazine advert identifies successful songs in the chart in hope of drawing more viewers. If the audience is unable to come then it specifies information on when and how the concert can be viewed e.g. CD/DVD.
This magazine advert puts across the idea of sovereigns and royalty suggesting that it’s something to be missed, the magazine advert does this by staying consistent with the theme and colours as well as adopting a contemporary font which maintains the thesis.
